In 2008, the Danish Brewery company Carlsberg is closing its production facilities in Valby, Copenhagen. The brewery site – an area that spands more than 300,000 square metres – will be transformed into a new city district, and an international architecture competition was announced about a year ago. On May 22nd 2007, the winner project for the new quarter was presented, and it looks quite promising.
The winner of the competition is the Danish architecture firm Entasis, and their project is entitled “Our Space” (Vores Rum / Vores By). The idea is to create a new district in the city that people will use 24 hours a day – i.e. not just another “dead” quarter with expensive flats. Read more about the project at voresby.com.
